Sit-At-Home Vs Economic Empowerment Day (EED)
Written by Igbo Focus | 7th August 2023 A new sway called “economic empowerment day (EED)” which is the new suggestion for a protest in southeast for Nnamdi Kanu instead of using sit-at-home. According to them, our errand individuals who said that this is the new concept of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu (MNK). The press release was written by Emma Powerful, the IPOB media and publicity secretary. The question one would ask is that, does IPOB represent MASSOB, BNL, BRGIE, BLA, etc., or what? To be issuing order to other Biafra agitators like they are part of IPOB. I can remember them saying that Mazi Simon Ekpa is not IPOB member. On the same token, I cannot believe it, to hear a woman who said she used to work with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as his PA or so and IPOB saw that Mazi Simon Ekpa was outspoken in Finland so they made him head person of IPOB in Finland. So, how can IPOB make someone head of the area when the person is not a member of them? The way I see it now is that I feel Simon Ekpa is winning Biafra agitation that require lawyers, IPOB, governors, senators, etc., to descend on him and his group to destroy him and his group. Calling him and his group criminals, illegal, mad, illegitimate, etc., is ridiculous and unreasonable. If IPOB is proscribed and their leader is still in prison unable to come out even with so many lawyers, what would that tell you. At the same time, IPOB sold their leader and still using him to make money. So, out of IPOB and Simon Ekpa’s group which one is more of a criminal, illegal, mad, illegitimate and being prescribed by the government. Simon Ekpa’s group is working from Finland and IPOB is working from the UK or registered in the UK. What’s the difference between Simon Ekpa’s group and IPOB. The claim that Simon Ekpa’s group is carrying out criminal activities is not substantiated, they only alleged by unconfirmed hearsays. This is the same way IPOB was made a scapegoat before Simon Ekpa’s group. The problem with IPOB is that they want to be the one issuing all orders for Biafrans, and it is dangerous especially when their leader was kidnapped, renditioned to Nigeria under their noses. Biafrans shouldn’t put all their eggs in one basket. There should be a leeway for other Biafrans to agitate or protest even if they are not members of IPOB. What IPOB wrote on that press release of EED showed that IPOB is digressing from Biafra agitation that “during this exercise of EED, Biafrans are encouraged to embark on massive deployment of their resources for the empowerment of the educationally disadvantaged and poverty ridden population of our people. Through education, employment, health services, sense of identity and community, our people and indeed, the Eastern region can begin to thrive and grow.” So then, what is the work of our governors. It is like transferring all the duties to individuals instead of the states’ governments. “There is an urgent need to reclaim our lost glory by embarking on empowering Biafrans with the resources they need to live beyond mere subsistence as our people are known globally for hard work, resilience, and great achievements.” The above is why we are agitating for Biafra or you no longer want Biafra anymore but stock in Nigerian for your life? You don’t want Nigeria, you don’t want Igbo president because none of your Igbo governors, senators or politicians are supporting Peter Obi. Now you don’t Biafra or sit-at- home but what you want is EED. Comrade Emma Powerful, the IPOB media and publicity secretary said on press release that “following the total cancellation of all forms of sit-at-home in the entire South-East, as clearly and unequivocally encapsulated in Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s handwritten letter which was recently published special counsel Barrister Alloy Ejimakor, widely trended and deservedly celebrated, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has as a follow up to the recorded acceptability and massive compliance with the directive, further directed UmuChineke, to henceforth, set aside every Monday as an “Economic Empowerment Day (EED)” in the entire South-East.” Coinciding to the press release written by Emma Powerful, the IPOB media and publicity secretary goes on saying that “the implication of this Economic Empowerment Day (EED) is that Biafrans are expected to devote significant time to adhere to their routine calendar schedule template strictly and uninterruptedly with a view to making up for the humongous time lost to the activities of misguided enforcers of unsanctioned Monday sit at home order. It is pertinent to use this medium to make an important fundamental clarification to the effect that Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s handwritten letter, which conveyed his message cancelling sit-at-home to the misguided elements hitherto enforcing sit-at-home in the entire South-East, was never written under any duress, compulsion, or influence of any kind. Onyendu is very firm, and unshaken. Hence, not even Satan and his 24 demons of Hell will have the courage to stand in front of him or tell him what to do, talk less of DSS. Anybody questioning the authenticity of the handwritten letter suspending further Monday sit-at-home is patently dishonest and not worthy to be called a Biafran. Anybody who claims to know Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will also know that nobody will be courageous enough to coerce him to do anything that will jeopardise the restoration of Biafra. Therefore, enough is enough. It is time you consolidate efforts to rebuild our once envied Eastern region – peaceful, accommodating, resilient people, illustrious, and great – and reclaim your glory among nations.”
