An arm of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Homeland Security outfit known as Dragon Squad, on Wednesday conducted a peaceful protest in Lagos State to drive home the demand for a referendum date and to also ask for the release of their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
A statement by IPOB's media and publicity secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful said that the protest was aimed at sending signal to the powers that be and enemies of Biafra that the struggle for Biafra independence, championed by Kanu dead or alive, is duty bound to restore Biafra no matter the odds.
The group maintained that the arbitrary arrests of its members, killings, detentions, torture, judicial extortion and sabotage cannot stop it from achieving Biafra.
The statement read in part, "The formidability of our unique structure that gave rise to the protest today by IPOB family in Lagos, is a clear indication that this present generation fighting for Biafra freedom will not relent until Biafra sovereignty is totally restored.
"Anybody or group of persons doubting our resolve is in for an almighty shock soon.
"We say to those reeling under the brutal suppression of the present regime in the Middle Belt and elsewhere that only IPOB has the solution that can save you.
"It is now beyond every doubt that IPOB is more determined than ever to pursue this cause of Biafra Independence to its logical conclusion regardless of human and material cost."
IPOB further hailed Biafrans in Lagos State for their fearlessness, doggedness and effort towards organising the peaceful protest to prove that they are ever formidable wherever they are domiciled.
